KASESE UNITED HUMANIST ASSOCIATION

Working for the Betterment of Humanity

Kasese Humanist Primary School is a secular school founded in 2011, run and managed by Kasese United Humanist Association, a registered non profit, community based organization.
The school is set up on the Foundation of Science and promotes evidence based learning, vocational skills subjects are encouraged at the school and plans are underway to set up a technology center on the school land in Rukoki.
More about the school is available on the school website  HERE

The school started with classes Nursery to Primary Six in 2011 and added an extra class P.7 the following year and had its first candidates all join secondary school education.Last year in 2013,a total of 19 pupils sat for the Primary Leaving Examinations and all of them joined secondary school this year, two of our best children won scholarships to study at Isaac Newton High School in Masaka which is also a Humanist School. At present the school has total enrollment of 365 students and out of these 56 of them through efforts of the School Director who initiated the Child Sponsorship Program has managed to get individual Sponsors in the secular communities worldwide has given chance to these children to keep in school and attain knowledge. Many thanks to the child sponsors for helping out with school fees for needy and orphaned children at the school.

Two years ago, the School Director Mr.Bwambale Robert purchased land to house the permanent home for KHPS. The funds that made this possible still came from generous donors, sympathisers and friends of KHPS from all corners of the world, the main fundraiser was the Godless Poutine of the Mysecretatheist Blog and right now a new fundraiser is on by the Godless Poutine to raise funds to able KHPS build classrooms on its permanent land and so far a number of buildings have been put up but the fundraising drive is still on .You can check out our fundraising page on causes.com HERE

Atheist Alliance International who has been great partners in the initial renovation works and making of furnitures that we are using now at the school has done a commendable job in redirecting donations towards our school via their website Atheist Alliance International and its our wishes that other organizations committed to promoting Science, Reason and Freethought should come out and support our projects especially in third world countries such that we also match with the rest of the world.

Kasese Humanist Primary School right now is laying strategies to develop its property by soliciting for funds from our international friends such that we put in place a school with decent classrooms. The current school site is rented from Uganda Railways Corporation and most of the buildings serving as classrooms are made up of iron sheet walls and roofs with wire meshed windows. AAI members and officers helped us in renovating these structures and indeed they are serving us right now.

Past volunteers to Kasese Humanist primary school

During the initial stages before even KHPS came into existence in 2010 Kasese United Humanist Association received a team of 4 volunteers from USA, Hongkong and Canada to come teach at our school by then it was in Kilembe. In 2011 we relocated the school to Kasese Town and renamed the school as KHPS.

A photo slide below displays the volunteers so far numbering 6 since we initiated the KUHA School Project. A big thank you to all our volunteers for reserving some of your precious time to join us in our efforts to avail to Ugandan children quality education and exposing the children to critical thinking skills and world view free from dogma and indoctrinations
